Buurted Cookie and App Privacy Policy
Version 3 | 2026-10-10
1. Necessary app storage
Necessary storage supports login, security, saved preferences and core marketplace functions. It remains active when optional settings are off. You can use the app without opting into analytics, personalisation or promotional updates.
2. Optional analytics
Product analytics is optional. If you enable Analytics in Privacy preferences, Buurted sends usage events to PostHog to understand and improve the app and records views and clicks on its sponsored placements in its own backend. These records may include your Buurted account ID, an app-session identifier, screen or action, app/device context, advert and placement, and neighbourhood/category context. They are not anonymous. New advert measurement requires an authenticated account with analytics consent; it is not recorded for guests or when this consent is off. These records are not combined with data from other companies for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. You can withdraw this preference at any time; withdrawal stops future optional collection and does not automatically erase previously collected records.
3. Personalisation
The personalisation setting currently stores your preference for future optional personalisation within Buurted. It does not currently activate a personalised recommendation engine. Your selected neighbourhood remains part of ordinary local discovery, regardless of this preference. This is not permission for tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
4. Buurted updates
Buurted updates is an optional preference for Buurted's own feature announcements and promotional communications. Admin broadcast notifications are restricted to users who have enabled this preference. Necessary account, security, support and transaction communications are separate and are not disabled by declining promotional updates. References to campaigns concern these Buurted communications and our own sponsored placements, not cross-company advertising profiles or permission for advertiser tracking.
5. Web content and cookies
The native app uses app storage for sign-in, security and consent preferences. This is not the same as web advertising cookies. Legal documents are fetched from Buurted's API and displayed as local HTML with a policy that blocks external resources. Buurted does not use these documents to load advertising trackers. The revised iOS app displays sponsored embed placements as native image or text cards rather than loading advertiser HTML/iframes. Advert video media, where used, comes from Buurted's configured media storage. External website links open through the operating system; those websites have their own privacy and cookie practices, which Buurted does not control. Buurted does not use their cookies to match users to cross-company advertising profiles.
6. Your choices and rights
Optional choices are off by default. In Profile > Privacy preferences you can change each switch independently. For signed-in users, Buurted stores the choices on its servers and synchronises them with app storage. A network failure does not grant new consent. Earlier records are subject to our retention and rights provisions; contact info@buurted.nl for access or deletion requests.
7. Service providers and advertising
Buurted does not sell or otherwise share user or device data with data brokers. We do not combine app data with data from other companies' apps, websites or offline sources for targeted advertising or advertising measurement. We do use service providers to operate Buurted, including Azure hosting and file storage, Neon database hosting, Expo/Apple/Google notification infrastructure, Brevo transactional email/SMS delivery, and PostHog for optional product analytics. These providers receive the data needed for their service; this is not a claim that no third party receives data. Other providers support requested authentication, maps, payment, AI-assisted moderation and support functions as described in this policy and the relevant feature. Data may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to handle safety issues or disputes. We do not configure PostHog destinations or batch exports to send app analytics to advertising services.
